Child & Adolescent Services:

  • Children & adolescents can manifest emotional and behavioral issues resulting from school, home and social problems.  They ten to have limited adaptive coping strategies and resources to self-manager.  This can result in difficulties with substance abuse, maladaptive school and home behaviors, and problems with self-esteem, body image, communication, depression and anxiety.  Substance abuse counseling and evaluations, as well as ADHD counseling and evaluations can be provided.  In addition to these traditional therapy attempts, children at risk for adult obesity can be assisted in an individual manner.

ADHD Clinic

  • This service offers comprehensive, individual evaluations for children, teens and adults.  Counseling for individuals and families are centered around the secondary effects of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) including social skill building, emotional development, ADHD coaching, and behavioral modification.  Weigel counseling works closely with Roseville Pediatrics in providing this multidisciplinary service.

Body Tune

  • Body Tune was developed and is staffed by a Registered Nurse, as a specialized, individualized and comprehensive service that is committed to assisting children and teens to achieve and live a healthy lifestyle.  Body Tune service includes assessment and evaluation, individual and family consultation, and supportive and motivational education and counseling that are at-risk for adult obesity to achieve a healthy BMI (Body Mass Index).

Creative Arts Therapies - Music  Therapy & Art Therapy

  • Creative Arts Therapies utilize creative expression in the form of art, music, movement, play, drama and other means to achieve optimal mental health and resolve conflicts in a supportive and holistic environment.

Play Therapy

  • Children play through conflicts through fantasy as their way to experience mastery over their environment.  Play therapy is a form of psychotherapy that provides a safe place and uses play-based models and techniques resulting in improved communication, self-expression and mastery over internal conflicts.

Sandtray Therapy

  • Sandtray Therapy is an effective form of Play Therapy and can be used with children, adolescents, even adults, families and couples as they create an opportunity for emotional expression in a non-threatening, symbolic experience.  The pieces placed in the sandtray become the worlds.

Community Speaking

  • Several of our counselors enjoy doing presentations and workshops on a variety of topics, and can be contracted to speak at your school, workplace or community organization.  Speeches are tailored to meet the needs of the audience.

EAP - Employee Assistance Program

  • This program includes confidential, short-term counseling including assessments and evaluations with no retainer fees and reasonable rates.  This program includes on-site services at a persons place of business or at Weigel Counseling Associates.  Some of the services provided include personal and work stress, elder care issues, alcohol and substance abuse, emotional, and physical abuse, martial and family issues, depression and anxiety, parenting problems, grief and loss, gambling, and anger issues.

Cultural and Ethnic Related Therapy

  • Cultural and ethnic related therapy topics include race related stress (including discrimination and racism), racial cultural identity development (e.g. discussing the stages of Black/White/Asian/Latino/Native American Identify development and how one's process of identity shapes who they are and their experiences); as well as various other forms of diversity topics such as gender identity, religion, socioeconomic status, physical ability, sexual identity, ageism, etc.  All of these topics can be explored as they pertain to one's self and others.  Also consultations and presentations regarding Multicultural Counseling and Celebrating Diversity in the workplace and/or in the school can be provider.


Mindfulness-based Therapy

  • Mindfulness-based therapy traces its roots back to meditation practices established thousands of  years ago, and is typically combined with contemporary cognitive approaches.  The techniques focus on utilizing non-judgemental moment-to-moment awareness to reduce stress, clarify thought processes, and find valued direction for one's life.  It has been shows to be effective in treating problems of anxiety, depression, chronic pain, stress, as well as confronting existential crises.  The therapy offered at Weigel Counseling Associates includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. (ACT). Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and includes facets of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).

Narrative Therapy

  • Narrative Therapy is a dynamic therapeutic approach, which actively involves both the client and clinician in a conversation about 'rewriting" the way the client understands his/her world and outlook thereof.  Narrative therapy works to reconstruct ineffective, unhealthy, and undesirable traits, thoughts, and behaviors by focusing on the maladaptive "stories" we tell ourselves and finding resolve from these struggles by working though to find a better way to understand one's life and thoughts.

Critical Incident Stress Management

  • Critical Incident Stress Management is a defined systems approach to providing immediate therapeutic support to an individual, family or group that has experience an unexpected but exceptionally traumatic crisis or event.  This can either be in the form of a "defusing" of the impact that the event has had or later a "debriefing" in helping the individual or group better understand the emotional impact that the incident has created.  Additional post-crisis counseling may subsequently but not necessarily be required.
